OUR NEWS AND EVENTS

New arrangements for Drop-off and Pick-up from school

Arrival

  • Drop off time - 7.30 onwards (not before 7.30 as your child will be unsupervised outside the gates)
  • Do not drop your child outside the front of school at reception this causes a lot of congestion and it poses a danger to children from our school and the school opposite.
  • Please park in one of the designated parent parking areas. If your child is too young to walk by themselves, you must park and walk your child to the school gate.
  • All buses will drop students at Gate 4. Please do not park in the bus area indicated on the map - cars parking between buses pose a danger to children and the buses have difficulty in reversing out. You may find themselves blocked in by a bus and waiting for children to disembark
  • A one way system will be in operation for parents dropping off their child - please use this and do not pull across the road to drop your child off
  • You will not always be able to park outside your child’s gate and child may be required to walk to the gates. If your child is too young to do so, please park in a sensible space and walk your child to the gate
  • We request you do not linger to talk to friends after dropping your child off - this will take up spaces for other parents who also need to park

Gates for Arriving
Gate 1 - Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Gate 4 - All bus children and Secondary students

No children should be arriving through reception

Departure
  • To ease congestion use the one way system around the school
  • Park and meet your child at the designated gate

Gates for Departing
Gate 1 - Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Gate 4 - Secondary car children
Gates 4 & 5 - Buses 3, 4, 5, 7, 14
Reception and Gate 5 - Buses 1, 2, 6, 10, 11, 12

Children supervising younger children for car pick-ups exit via Gate 1

Late Pick-Up
Gates are closed at 2.20 pm when your child will return to reception
Children of all ages will only be allowed to leave reception when the parent or family member comes to collect them

Front of School
Please do not drop your child off in a morning or wait for pick-up in front of the school (by the reception gate). Parents who do this cause congestion for us and the surrounding schools. It also compromises the safety of our children.

These measures have been put in place to help ease the traffic situation around the school. It is important we all abide by them. We put the safety of all our children above all else so please do not be offended if we tell you to move your car to a safer place.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Dear Visitor,

Victoria English School has been a leading and dedicated provider of Foundation Stage, Primary and Secondary education in Sharjah, UAE, for over 18 years. It has established its excellent reputation serving the local, national and international communities. Our student roll is 930, with approximately 70 nationalities, giving a truly international flavour. The school offers a quality 'British styled' curriculum with its roots firmly embedded in the National Curriculum of England and Wales. The curriculum, which is both broad and balanced, is adapted to reflect local culture and other educational influences from the Ministry of Education both in Sharjah and nationally. Our students complete their studies here at VES by sitting the internationally recognised International General Certificates in Education (IGCSEs) and the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced courses (both AS and A2 levels). The medium of instruction is in English. Acceptance to the school is subject to successfully completing the appropriate age related assessment.

Here at VES we not only want our students to achieve academic success, we also recognise that they all progress academically at individual rates. It is important for us to work with students to achieve their individual potential; to challenge and to push and to encourage and motivate our students. Our aim is to equip them with the skills to think independently, research, question, analyse and evaluate.

Beyond academic expectations we also focus on our students' personal and social development. We want our students to be confident, considerate, respectful and globally aware. Such skills are developed through relationships established between teachers and students and between students themselves.

I hope our ethos here at Victoria English School reflects the style of education you want for your child. I am delighted to welcome you to our website and hopefully one day to our school.
