Why have a PTA?
The PTA is a most valued group of dedicated parents who organise and run fund raising events throughout the academic year. Together through these social events the PTA raise money to purchase luxury items and equipment that are essential to enhancing the learning of our children and our educational environment. In recent years the PTA has hosted the popular annual school fete, international buffets, and many more fund raising events.
How is the money distributed?
All money raised by the PTA is kept in an account separate from the school. The school will ask all departments to make bids for items they would like to purchase for the education and learning of your child. This is done through a ‘wish list’. The PTA committee reviews the wish list and allocates funds appropriately. Last year the PTA raised funds to cover all items requested.
What have you bought?
Here is a list of just a few of the items the PTA has helped provide for the school:
- An up-right piano for the school hall
- Scientific calculators (KS3)
- An overhead projector (KS3)
- Scientific equipment including a full size skeleton (KS2)
- Software for ICT (KS1)
- Educational toys and games (KS1)
- CD players
- Funds for the climbing wall
Can I be part of the PTA?
Parents are invited to join the PTA to help support the learning of our children. At the beginning of the year the Head Teacher, along with the Chair of the Committee will write to parents to ask for their support. If you miss this opportunity, you can always contact our Receptionist who will put you in touch with the PTA members. Your help at these events is very much appreciated. It is also a great way to be involved with the school and meet new people.
