Victoria English School’s PTA

What is the PTA?

Parents and Teachers Association.

Why have a PTA?

It is a chance for parents and teachers to meet once a month for approximately one hour to discuss projects that can benefit the school and your children. Together through social events the PTA raise money to purchase luxury items and equipment that are not in the school budget to benefit the children. For example the PTA host the annual Victorian School fete that brings in most of the money, none uniforms days, international buffets and many more.

What happens to the money and how is it distributed throughout the school?

The money is kept in a separate account from the school and the money is left in that account until it is utilized to aid the teachers and your children. Each year the teachers prepare a “wish list” of things that they would like to aid the children’s education that are not already in the school. The PTA committee reviews the wish lists and last year the teachers were granted all the items requested for your children.

What have you bought?

From the funds raised by the PTA the school was able to purchase

·      An up-right piano for the school hall

·      Scientific calculators and an over head projector for key stage three

·      Scientific equipment and a full size skeleton for key stage two

·      Software and toys for key stage one

·      CD players

·      Money was given to start the new climbing wall

·      And many more

When are these meeting held?

Normally once a month on a Monday evening at 7.30 pm
