ACTIVITIES

We are very proud of our programme of extra curricular activities at VES.  Every student has the opportunity to take part in a variety of clubs and societies which take place after school.  Attached to this letter you will find a full list of the activities.

Students should indicate their chosen activity and parents must sign and return by Tuesday 20th.

We plan to start the activities program on the 25th October.  Needless to say, the choice will be allocated on the basis of ‘first come, first served’.  Some activities have limited places and fill quickly.  Please indicate a second choice in case your first choice is already full, Please only select one first choice and one second choice.. You will then receive a confirmation slip of your child’s activity.

Please also note that some activities (such as climbing, for example) can only be offered to certain age groups. Please make sure the activity you choose is for your child’s age group.

Activities will run for 1 hour after school.  Please remember that on Thursday school finishes earlier; therefore activities on this day will also finish earlier.

We would like to remind you that there will be no bus service after activities.  If a child is picked up late on more than 2 occasions they will not be allowed to continue with the activity. Siblings of children having activities or detention are not to be left at school.  Parents must collect students on time if they are not in an activity.

Please note that Karate is an independent activity run by Mr Haddad on Mon and Wed.  This must be booked with Mr Haddad.   Please ensure you advise your child’s class teacher if they are doing this class, and Miss Emma if they normally take the bus.

Explanation of some activities

Swimming Beginner - If your child is unable to swim at any age group. Mrs Higson, the swimming teacher, will refer your child’s inclusion in this club. You may contact her for details.

Handwriting – If your child needs to improve their handwriting skills – Miss Young will refer them to this activity.

Drumming – Children attending this activity will require their own drum.  See Miss Baker for more information.

International Award - See Mr Rangecroft for details – For those who realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching the world pass you by. Your programme can be full of activities and projects that will get you excited, and along the way you will pick up friends and skills that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
